View the changing landscape by taking a walk along the levadas (irrigation channels), a living document of the island’s past. They are used to spread the overflowing waters that come from the sources up in the mountains over the canyons and valleys.

This island offers 2 golf courses, suitable for championships and novices. One of these is the Golf Club of Santo da Serra (1.5 km), promoter of the Madeira Island Open. The course has majestic views to the highest mountains as well as down to the calm sea.
